500+ hp
Forced Performance Red Turbo: There’s not much to write about the FP Red Turbo for the WRX & STi, as most of the information on it is top-secret from Forced Performance. The FP Red is a huge Mitsubishi/Garret hybrid WRX & STi turbo capable of making 500+ hp at the wheels. However, although the FP Red has OEM-type Subaru flanging, this is not a simple bolt-on and go turbo -- the 3" inlet requires a Perrin inlet hose and removal of the tumbler generator valves. To reach the FP Red’s full potential, extensive tuning and supporting modifications are required. We only sell this produc with an internal wastegate.
The standard configuration FP Red uses a Subaru type water cooled bearing housing with both water connections on the same side of the CHRA. The thread specifications for the wet housing are as follows: Oil inlet - 10mm x 1.5mm, Water in/out 14mm x 1.5 (same side). 30 psi appears to be the limit of the FP Red’s internal wastegate. This turbo makes most of its power at high boost on race gas, while it is capable of producing high power numbers, it is laggy.
The Forced Performance Red WRX & STi turbo has been dynoed at 510 lb-ft of torque at 4900 rpm and 521hp at 6700 rpm on race gas (see the dyno chart ).
SPOOL & PERFORMANCE: This is a laggy turbo, even on the 2.5L motor. While capable of producing power above 500whp on race gas, it takes a while to get there and requires a considerable amount of supporting modifications. This is a serious turbocharger, for race applications - we strongly suggest giving this alot of thought before purchasing.
NOTES: 1. The FP Red requires supporting mods, which include engine management, fuel injectors, deleting the tumblers, 3" turbo inlet, etc. If you have questions call us; you cannot bolt these onto a stock car and go. 2. We do not recommend this turbo for 2.0L cars. 3. The FP Red turbo includes coolant lines, but it requires the purchase of an oil feed line. 4. All turbos must be primed before initial use; this means running the engine w/ the ignition disconnected to get oil to the center cartridge. In addition, they should be broken in on non-synthenic motor oil. 5. The oil line needed for this turbo is dependant on what heads you have on your motor. WRX heads with an STi block still require the WRX oil feed line.
NOTE: The 2007+ STi will not work with the STi oil feed line, please call us for more information. FITMENT: 2002-07 WRX & 2004-09 STi; model specific oil line required (choose accordingly)
